THE POSITION

FanDuel is looking for a Lead Engineer to innovate and maintain our TV Technology systems. You will play a key role on the TV Technology Engineering team, with full ownership over technology for studio, broadcast, postproduction, media asset management, playout, streaming, monitoring & alerting. You will collaborate with multiple departments within the company including Technology, Marketing, Commercial, Data Science, Product, and Customer Service. You will implement expeditious solutions to address and resolve requirements or issues. THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Outline strategic initiatives, process improvement plans, program optimization, and project plans. You will work cross functionally with multiple teams on strategic initiatives and interact with senior leadership on developing full project scope, budget, timelines, and ensuring the full project lifecycle is fulfilled. This will be a hands-on role, providing engineering design, configuration management, maintenance, and ensuring operational SLA’s are met. You will develop buy-in and consensus for new KPI’s that the business will adhere to.
  • Provide daily support for Production, Operations, Postproduction, Studio, Graphics, and other cross-functional FanDuel and Flutter teams.
  • Create project roadmaps with minimal guidance and multitask in real time with adjusting or conflicting priorities.
  • Foster communication and requirements gathering for projects & operational needs.
  • Design, plan, and modify existing and new broadcast systems as necessary with no affect to customers.
  • Be the individual to foster innovation, efficiency, and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain an accurate reflection of our production systems utilizing Auto-CAD 2D & drawing database.
  • Maintain departmental ownership and ensure good hygiene for Atlassian systems (Jira & Confluence). This includes all tickets for projects (TV) & operational escalations (BOE) as well as our TV Technology Confluence space.
  • Create new project processes, operational processes, and workflows.
  • Must have strong grammar skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, if necessary, as well as being on call for urgent matters or escalations.

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or 6+ equivalent industry experience preferred.
  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience building in AutoCAD and maintaining an accurate database of drawings.
  • Minimum 6+ years’ experience developing high level, intermediate level, and low-level drawings.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience with AWS, Linux, and Windows, and strong experience implementing security guidelines along with practical experience in monitoring for compliance.
  • Experience working with video codecs & tech: (H.264, H.265, JPEG2000, JPEG-XS, DNxHD, ProRes),
  • Experience working with Media containers (MPEG-TS, MOV, MP4, MXF)
  • Experience working with Broadcast Production signals (SDI, SMPTE ST2110, RF, LBAND, timecode, NLE)
  • Experience working with time systems and time distribution (UTC/TAI, IEEE1588, SMPTE ST2059, leap seconds)
  • Experience working with Network streaming (SRT, RTP (SMPTE 2022-7), RIST, HLS, CMAF, WebRTC, WHIP, WHEP, DASH)
  • Experience working with Image Properties (fourCC, color space, HDR/SDR)
  • Knowledge of sports and/or experience working within a heavily regulated industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge with a scripting language such as Cloudformation, Terraform, Serverless, Powershell,
  • Python, or equivalent.

Nice to have’s:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of broadcast experience in sports, news, with linear TV & video on demand (VOD).
  • Experience working with on premises equipment and cloud infrastructure in a hybrid production system.
  • Proficiency in television production, studio, broadcast engineering, signal acquisition/distribution, playout, & streaming technologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of sports culture (including passion for fantasy sports).

The applicable salary range for this position is $135,000 - $169,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
