THE POSITION

The Senior Staff Devops Engineer role is pivotal in automating our cloud infrastructure and applications. You will collaborate with software engineers, release engineers, and other cross-functional teams in deploying, automating, and managing the software infrastructure. You will be responsible for providing mentorship and guidance to our cloud teams.

In this role, you will drive key initiatives by developing, planning, and implementing strategies across multiple cross-functional areas that align with business objectives. Your expertise in operational excellence and maturity are crucial in identifying areas of opportunities for improvement and owning the outcome. You will partner with teams across the organization to deliver critical business needs in a secure, reliable, observable, and efficient manner.

You will operate in an environment that values collaboration and continuous improvement. While the primary focus is on AWS, your role may also encompass other cloud platforms, depending on the organization's needs.

 

THE GAME PLAN

  • Operational Excellence & IaC Leadership: Own and drive the delivery of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), promoting operational excellence across the engineering landscape.
  • Technical Leadership: Act as a technical project lead within a cross-functional work environment, setting project priorities and ensuring the alignment of deliverables and objectives with stakeholder and leadership expectations.
  • Process Evangelism & Documentation: Champion efficient processes and thorough documentation, defining standards and requirements that bolster security, performance, and reliability.
  • Standards & Conventions: Develop and enforce engineering standards and conventions in collaboration with team members, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning activities, contributing to the team and company-wide objectives with a forward-thinking mindset.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and guide team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Networking and Cloud Management Teams, along with technical program managers, to drive cloud optimizations, simplification, and cost efficiency.

  • Experience: Proven experience in implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in highly regulated and large-scale AWS environments.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to tackle problems logically and systematically.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep technical understanding of AWS services and the ability to leverage these services to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively across different teams and with various stakeholders.
  • Decision Making: Ability to balance technical and business considerations in decision-making, demonstrating a keen understanding of their impact.
  • Proactivity: A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a knack for identifying and implementing effective solutions.
  • Continuous Learning: A commitment to continuous learning, staying abreast of the latest cloud technology trends and practices.
  • Certifications: Relevant AWS certifications are considered a plus, showcasing a commitment to professional development in cloud technology.

The applicable salary range for this position is $185,000 - $231,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation.


This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
