THE POSITION

FanDuel is looking for a lead data scientist who specializes in customer behavior modeling to join our team. In this role you will develop and implement advanced models focused on enhancing user experiences and a deep understanding of customer behavior through the marketing, product, fraud, and analytics lens. This role requires a strong background in data science, machine learning, and a deep understanding of customer analytics. It is expected in this role to take ownership of open-ended ambiguous problems and reach an optimal solution by narrowing multiple options into the best approach.

 

THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Use statistical and machine learning techniques to segment users and predict future behaviors, developing automated logic and decision algorithms to deliver a better experience to the customer
  • Perform analysis on large and complex data sets utilizing relevant tools (SQL, Python, Spark) and provide strategic contributions (i.e. drive infrastructure improvements in the business unit, create foundational platform for model testing)
  • Define, test, and understand current infrastructure and provide scalable solutions to tackle team OKR’s
  • Oversee the integration and deployment of cross-functional and cross-organizational projects, developing process improvements and technical leadership
  • Stay up to date on the latest advancements in data science and leverage cutting edge technology
  • Lead projects from start to finish, set proper expectations, and communicate timely and adequately with stakeholders. 
  • Directly or indirectly oversee the contributions of others and develop colleagues’ capabilities in the area of specialization

 

THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • 8+ years of experience in Data Science creating and deploying models 
  • A proven track record of success working in customer personalization and a strong understanding of the technical elements required in building and maintaining advanced models. Hands on experienced required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a highly numerate major (Math, Stats, Econ, etc.) or relevant experience in data and/or business analysis  
  • Experience in experimentation to validate models' impact and ability to quantify that impact   
  • Experience using user behavioral, promotional and marketing data in model building 
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python required
  • Experience with tech stacks such as MLFlow, Spark, Databricks, Sagemaker 
  • Can write production level code, understand principles of programming  
  • Interest in Sports and/or Sports Gaming preferred

The applicable salary range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
